What we do!
Teddy Bear Hospital (TBH) is a public health project for 3-11 year old children run by healthcare students at the University of Liverpool - the aim is to reduce children's fear of health professionals and clinical settings. It is also a great opportunity for future doctors, nurses, dentists and OTs to increase their skills when working with children.
Children are often more frightened than adults when they have to visit a doctor, which can cause major barriers to examining a child or taking a complete history. Teddy Bear Hospital aims to familiarise children in a friendly and fun atmosphere with the consultation atmosphere at a hospital, GP’s surgery or paediatric clinic.
Children bring their "sick" teddy bear or doll and act as the parent, bearing responsibility for the sick toy. The children will also learn about health and healthy eating, hand washing and a little about the body and different organs. Teddy Bear Hospital provides valuable contact time between medical students and children, as well as an opportunity to actively promote health in workshop time.
We have also developed our programme to help teach older children how the perform Basic Life Support and, new this September, we will be adding a 'Growing Up' station hoping to address mental health in younger children.
University Society
We also run as any other normal student society; we have socials organised for our members which we hope will help add to the university experience! Past socials have included curry nights and pub quizzes so get involved and join the fun!

Fundraising
TBH regularly fundraises for our chosen charity, Claire House Children's Hospice, with profits from cake sales and raffles going to this amazing charity!

Our Committee!
